DARRYL SITTLER

Arguably the greatest Toronto Maple Leaf of all-time, Darryl Sittler has joined the SCOTIABANK® ROAD HOCKEY TO CONQUER CANCER! Selected 8th overall by the Maple Leafs in the 1970 NHL Amateur Draft, Darryl Sittler went on to have a Hall of Fame career, being inducted into hockey’s hallowed Hall in 1989. Through 15 superb seasons spread between Toronto (where he was appointed captain in 1975), Philadelphia and Detroit, Darryl recorded 1,121 regular season points (including 484 goals) in 1,096 games. He added 74 points in 76 playoff contests. Few will forget his record-shattering feat of scoring 10 points against the Boston Bruins on February 7, 1976. Darryl lost his first wife (Wendy) to cancer, making his participation particularly meaningful. In fact, when his number 27 was honoured by the Maple Leafs and a banner raised to the rafters to commemorate the honour, Darryl insisted that Wendy’s name be included on the bottom-right of the banner to honour her indomitable spirit.
