By taking part in Road Hockey to Conquer Cancer, you will be supporting the life-saving work of researchers at the BC Cancer Agency. As global leaders in care and research, experts at the Agency are changing the way the world thinks about cancer, and most importantly improving the way cancer is treated.
Road Hockey to Conquer Cancer will support research projects and enhancements to care with the most promise to have a real impact on improving early detection, treatment, and survivorship support for cancer patients here in our province.
Your fundraising efforts will give the world-renowned scientists and clinicians from the BC Cancer Agency’s Centre for Lymphoid Cancers the ability to complete their project of analyzing all of the mutations responsible for lymphoid cancer. This work will identify new treatment targets and lead us in a direction of a personalized approach to treating cancers.
You are ensuring that brain cancer is better understood and patients diagnosed with this often life-altering cancer will have the best treatments at their disposal.
And, you are helping provide hope to patients with the most advanced stage cancers who are taking part in a revolutionary clinical trial. Patients will have the DNA and RNA of their cancer decoded and clinicians will match that information with existing therapies based on a biological rationale. This has the potential to extend patient’s lives and offer them a chance at a future when there would otherwise be no treatment options left.
