My Story
Hello World,
2 weeks before Christmas in 2008, My world was turned upside down when my mother came into my room and told me the scariest thing possible, "Melissa, I have cancer." Not only did my world come to a crashing stop, but suddenly my mom, my best friend, my #1 supporter needed me more then ever. It was time for me to take care of her. Within a few months, the word "cancer" had changed to Endometrial Stromal Sarcoma, an extremely rare form of gynaecological cancer. The doctors had told us there was no long term plan, because Chemotherapy and Radiation did not respond to this type of cancer. The only thing they could do was an extremely invasive and aggressive surgery.
My mom has undergone several surgeries, and lost SEVERAL organs along the way. She will never be cured of this awful disease. Not only is she my mother, but she is my hero. She continues to put a brave face to the world, and does not count they days, but makes the days count.
Please help me honor my mom, and raise money to help to find a cure!
