Princess Margaret Hospital and its research arm, the Ontario Cancer Institute, which includes The Campbell Family Cancer Research Institute, have achieved an international reputation as one of the top 5 cancer research centres in the world. The Princess Margaret is the largest institution of its kind in Canada devoted 100% to conquering cancer. Fundraising events like ROAD HOCKEY TO CONQUER CANCER support breakthrough research and discovery of new more effective cancer fighting therapies. The extraordinary personnel at The Princess Margaret, including leading scientists and researchers, are committed to CONQUERING CANCER IN OUR LIFETIME. Your funds will accelerate the pace of discovery and move new treatments from bench to bedside more quickly. Funding will go towards programs like our high content clinical trials, our world class tumour bank, our advanced molecular profiling laboratory and our new drug development program. The Princess Margaret will also be able to allocate funds for other programs like cancer stem cells, cancer metabolism and microenvironment, immunotherapy, and major site programs such as lung cancer, prostate cancer and women’s cancers programs, to name a few. When you register as a participant you can select the cancer site area that is most important to you or you can designate your funds to The Princess Margaret high priority cancer discovery fund. The medical and research heads of the cancer program make the final determination of the use of funds within the disease area you selected and the priorities of the research institute and hospital. Princess Margaret Hospital is a member of University Health Network, which also includes Toronto General Hospital and Toronto Western Hospital.
