Q: What is a Self-Pledge? A: You will be able to continue your fundraising until December 31st 2012. You will still have the full support of the Road Hockey Office, your personal and team page. If your team is short the $10,000 Fundraising minimum, and you do not Self-Pledge by Aug. 27, 2012, you will NOT be eligible to participate in Road Hockey to Conquer Cancer. All donations to date would remain with The Princess Margaret and the Canadian Cancer Society. People who decline to Self-Pledge and decide to not pursue the minimum fundraising requirement may still remain involved in the event as a Game Day Crew member. Q: If I agree to Self-Pledge on Aug. 27th, does that mean my Credit Card gets charged my shortfall on either Aug. 27th, or on Game Day September 29th? A: No, Self-Pledging allows you to fundraise to your goal all the way up to December 31, 2012. When you complete the Self-Pledge Form, your Credit Card will be charged a nominal fee of $2.00 to verify the Credit Card and your commitment. This $2.00 charge will go towards your Fundraising total. Between the initial $2.00 charge and December 31, should your team reach its $10,000 minimum, all players are relieved of Self-Pledge obligations. Only on December 31, should your team not reach its $10,000 minimum, would your credit card be charged. You MUST Self-Pledge, however, to eligible to participate on Game Day if your team is short of the $10,000 minimum. Q: If I Self-Pledge, how long do I have to make up my Fundraising Shortfall? A: You have until December 31, 2012 to make up any Fundraising Shortfall. If your Team reaches its $10,000 minimum prior to December 31, 2012, you will be relieved of any Self-Pledge obligations. Q: My Team has reached the $10,000 minimum, yet I have only raised $500, well under the personal minimum of $1000. Does this mean I have to Self-Pledge and be responsible for my $750 shortfall? A: No, as your team has already reached the $10,000 minimum, all Team Members are relieved of any Self-Pledge obligations, regardless of their individual fundraising totals (although we still encourage you to fundraise and secure a higher spot in our Celebrity Draft). Q: Half of my team has raised well over the individual fundraising minimum, but the other half are struggling. We are $2,000 short of the $10,000 Team Minimum. Does this mean our Team MUST be broken up and merged with another team? We would really like to stay together…A: No, your team can guarantee that it stays together if your team members agree to Self-Pledge the remaining amount divided equally amoung all players on the team. It is important to remember that ALL team members can continue to fundraise (even the ones over the individual $1000) up until December 31, 2012 to reach the $10,000 Team minimum. Once your team reaches the $10,000 Team minimum, all Team Members are relieved of Self-Pledge obligations. Q: What is the best way to reach the $10,000 Team Minimum? A: Simply send fundraising email to friends, family and colleagues. People WANT you to succeed.
