Training Tips

Below are some quick and easy ideas to make sure that you are ready to play on Game Day.

Cardio and Agility Training

Get the ol’ ticker ready for a day of fast action and fun! And make sure you can handle the constant stops, starts and jumping for joy after you snipe the game winner.

Stretching

That’s right…S-T-R-E-T-C-H-I-N-G (and reaching across the table for the last chicken wing and/or bending down to tie your shoes doesn’t count here). This is the real deal folks. We know that stretching is not something hockey players are known for, but this program is essential for helping you avoid injury…and being able to walk up the stairs the next day.

Nutrition

Sure, pizza, wings, and beer are considered "hockey food" but probably not part of the nutrition plan for someone about to embark on an epic, dawn to dusk road hockey marathon (as hard as that is to believe). Give yourself a bit of an edge by shaking-up your diet heading into October 1st.

Hydration

Contrary to popular belief a few beers after the game does not constitute a "rehydration strategy". To that end, we offer a few tips to ensure you replace lost fluids and don’t run out of gas before the final horn sounds.
