Donations
Q: Can donations be made through the main website?Yes, Road Hockey To Conquer Cancer’s website is designed to securely accept donations. In fact, this is the most efficient and quickest way to donate. Tell your family and friends that they can sponsor your participation as a player by selecting the ‘Donate’ button. By entering either your name or participant number in the search bar, they will be directed to your personal Player Page. Tax receipts are issued automatically with online donations. Q: How do donors obtain their tax receipts?Donors who donate online with a valid email address will receive a tax receipt via email. Donors who mail in a donation will receive their receipt by email if they give a valid email address, or by mail if they do not give an email address but do give a valid mailing address. Q: How is my credit card number handled?Credit card numbers are not stored in our database. During the donation process, we send your credit card number to an online processing terminal using a secure connection. The information passed back is an approval or denial for the credit card donation. Q: If I don’t reach $1,000 but my team still reaches its minimum, can I still play?Yes. As long as your team total fundraising exceeds $10,000. As long as the team has reached its $10,000 minimum fundraising target by Aug. 15, all registered players on that team can play on September 29th. If the team has fallen short of its minimum, there is the opportunity for a Delayed Pledge (DP) Q: What is a Delayed Pledge?A Delayed Pledge allows players to use their credit card to guarantee reaching the difference between the funds actually raised at that point in time, and the minimum fundraising requirement but then gives the participant the ability to continue to fundraise for several weeks following the event to cover this shortfall. Q: If I reach $1,000 but my team does not reach the $10,000 minimum, can I still play?Yes. Prior to the event, we will take the partial teams filled with participants who have achieved the individual minimum and merge them with other individual registrants who have achieved at least $1000 to form new teams to play in Road Hockey to Conquer Cancer. Q: What is the deadline for donations? The deadline for mailed-in donations is August 31, 2012. Online donations can be made as late as the night before Road Hockey To Conquer Cancer - September 28, 2012. Remaining donations can be added to your account on the day of the event - be sure to arrive early in order to facilitate these donations being added to your account. Should you have fallen short in your fundraising and did not reach the team $10,000 fundraising minimum, you may still play in Road Hockey To Conquer Cancer by making a self-pledge, which requires using your personal credit card to assure the shortfall, then gives you until December 31 to either bring in late donations to cover the difference or have the donation charge applied to your credit card. Alternatively, you can decide to participate as Game Day Crew. |
