Donations

Q: Can donations be made through the main website?

Yes, ROAD HOCKEY TO CONQUER CANCER’s website is designed to securely accept donations. In fact, this is the most efficient and quickest way to donate. Tell your family and friends that they can sponsor your participation as a player by selecting the ‘Donate’ button. By entering either your name or participant number in the search bar, they will be directed to your personal Player Page. Tax receipts are issued automatically with online donations.

Q: How do donors obtain their tax receipts?

Donors who donate online with a valid email address will receive a tax receipt via email. Donors who mail in a donation will receive their receipt by email if they give a valid email address, or by mail if they do not give an email address but do give a valid mailing address. All donations $10.00 or more will receive a tax receipt. If you have a tax receipt question, do not call Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation, DO CALL the Road Hockey office at 1-877-541-4646.

Q: How is my credit card number handled?

Credit card numbers are not stored in our database. During the registration and donation process, we send your credit card number to an online processing terminal using a secure connection. The information passed back is an approval or denial for the credit card donation.

Q: If I don’t reach $1,250 but my team still reaches its minimum, can I still play?

No. There is no such thing as a team minimum. Every individual must raise at least $1,250 before October 1, 2011 in order to play. Road hockey is a team game but every member needs to work hard in order to contribute to the team’s success. This is the same for ROAD HOCKEY TO CONQUER CANCER. If you have fallen short, there is always the opportunity for a delayed self pledge, which allows you to use your personal credit card to reach the minimum, then continue fundraising for a period of time following the event to cover the shortfall.

Q: What is the deadline for donations?

The deadline for mailed-in donations is September 1, 2011. Online donations can be made as late as the night before ROAD HOCKEY TO CONQUER CANCER - September 30, 2011. Remaining cheque or cash donations (along with their respective donation form) can be added to your account on the day of the event - be sure to arrive early in order to facilitate these donations being added to your account.
